Hi, I'm Joel. I like computers and tinkering around on them.
I'm a senior at the University of British Columbia, where I am pursuing my bachelor's in Computer Science and Statistics. I enjoy working on systems and software infrastructure at scale, as well as machine learning applications.
My past experiences include enhancing SAP's Concur Spend and Amazon Web Services' Simple Storage Service (S3). I was previously a visiting researcher at A*STAR in Singapore, advancing RNA large language models and publishing at NeurIPS 2025. My research interests primarily revolve around deep learning and its applications, particularly for language processing and computer vision.
In my free time, I've been reading, trying to get back into guitar, and touching more grass outdoors.
